Domestic Cricket: Match 38 of the 2018-19 Big Bash League: Sydney Thunder v Melbourne Renegades 1st Innings Match Review at Spotless Stadium

Sydney Thunder won the toss and chose to bat first here at Spotless Stadium.

On the other hand, Melbourne Renegades will bowl and field first v Thunder.

Sydney Thunder immediately went off to a great start when Daniel Sams dismissed Cameron Boyce first ball.

Boyce took the high-risk shot even though he still watched the ball on his follow through.

He didn’t move his feet and only reached out for the pull shot towards Chris Jordan at mid-off.

Not long later, Gurinder Sandhu clean bowled Sam Harper on seven as Thunder takes two early wickets.

Harper looked to sweep before it swung and missed as he lost his shape and then later his wicket.

It took a while for Finch and his new partner Tom Cooper to get off the mark for the Renegades.

The away team reached 50 by the end of the eighth over before Fawad Ahmed dismissed Cooper on 13.

Unfortunately, Cooper whacked it early without moving his feet as his head goes sideways towards Anton Devcich at mid-off.

1st Innings, Part 2

Aaron Finch made his way towards his 50 as Renegades 3-108 with six overs to go.

Although, Gurinder Sandhu dismissed Finch on 54 when Finch whacked early by losing the balance of his head.

Plus Finch only reached out for the shot down wide as it sailed all the way towards Chris Green near the rope.

With three overs left, Daniel Sams pitched up the full straight ball before Christian whacked early towards Jason Sangha for the catch.

It’s a good ball which is difficult to take as Christian didn’t make too much room having lost some shape.

A ball later, Sams went for the short full ball where Cameron White only let the bat half whack straight to Shane Watson’s hands at mid-off.

Mohammed Nabi whacked too hard & missed the shot when he lost his balance before knicking straight to Jay Lenton’s gloves.

Gurinder Sandhu has three wickets off 23 runs conceded out of a four-over spell tonight for the Thunder.

Chris Jordan clean bowled Chris Tremain for four before a mix up from Kane Richardson & Mackenzie Harvey concluded the 1st Innings with the run-out.

Final 1st Innings Score: Melbourne Renegades 9-152

Sydney Thunder needs 153 runs to win with a required rate at 7.65 per over.
