Domestic Cricket: Match 38 of the 2018-19 Big Bash League: Sydney Thunder v Melbourne Renegades 2nd Innings Match Review at Spotless Stadium

Melbourne Renegades immediately responded well when Kane Richardson got rid of Anton Devcich.

It’s a short ball play pitching straight towards the keeper’s gloves as Devcich whacked early.

As Devcich reached out for the cut shot, the bat didn’t provide full bat power where Cameron Boyce took the catch.

In the 3rd over, Shane Watson made a mistake reaching out the cover drive off the bowling of Harry Gurney.

With no foot movement despite following on through his maintained shape, the ball carried straight to Aaron Finch.

Jason Sangha and Callum Ferguson batted patiently & scored runs on the board.

Nearly towards the halfway mark, Sydney Thunder reached the 60 run mark.

2nd Innings, Part 2

Callum Ferguson settled in very nicely for the Thunder tonight as he secured his 50 off 33 balls.

Ferguson looked calm and composed with the way he used his technique in the crease.

That way Ferguson can be comfortable and aggressive with his shot selection without having to rush.

But he had to leave on 52 when Ferguson took on the full ball early going straight towards Dan Christian.

Christian took his 2nd catch of the night when he ended Chris Green’s innings on seven.

Green just whacked whenever he likes trying to panic his way into the boundary.

Well, Green would need the full bat face as well as not having to run too much to make that ball click.

Daniel Sams later followed Green back upstairs when he pulled it off the edge of the bat.

So Sams may have hesitated a little of not playing late where the ball landed straight to Mackenzie Harvey.

Jay Lenton fired off with some late scores while Jason Sangha stayed on and made his way towards a half-ton.

At the same time, Harry Gurney dropped a catch despite Sangha made a loose shot.

Lenton tried to finish off at the last minute for the Sydney Thunder to win at home.

But Gurney’s superb bowling in the 19th & final over sent the Renegades on the home with the win at Spotless Stadium.

Final Score: Sydney Thunder 5-140 & Melbourne Renegades won by 12 runs.

The Renegades move up to 2nd with 11 games played of six wins and five losses on 12 points.

On the other hand, Sydney Thunder maintains 4th out of ten matches played with four wins, five losses and one no result on nine points.
