Matt Kenseth rolled off the line in 17th where he remained quiet in the first half of Stage 1.
By that time, he came to pit road on his first goes on Lap 33.
Towards his next run, before Stage 1 wrapped up, Kenseth moved up a spot and stayed there in 16th.
So no changes including the handling to his No.6 Ford.
During the first stage break, Kenseth needed more wedge plus the air pressure treatment in the hope for a better next run.
From 16th, there’s still not much movement over the first 25-30 laps having gone loose in and off.
Although, when a sheet of debris came off Erik Jones’s car, Kenseth pitted again this time a quickie under yellow.
Yes, the last green flag stop helped Kenseth a bit having moved up two spots in 15th.
But the last restart towards the halfway stage looked more successful where Kenseth three spots & came home in 12th.
He repeated the same process during the break for four new tires & fuel before restarted off in 13th.
There’s not much movement in his initial run having remained in the same spot before Kyle Larson heavily brushed the wall on Lap 193.
After seeing Larson lose a few spots, Kenseth restarted next in 12th with 67 laps to go.
This time he first cracked inside the Top 10 on Lap 210 in 8th as well as high as 2nd while the final green-flag pit cycle took place.
When Brad Keselowski doored Daniel Suarez with 20 to go, Kenseth took the opportunity to pit under yellow.
From there, Matt Kenseth remained in the Top 10 before he steered his No.6 Ford to the finish line in 6th.

It’s the first time that Kenseth scored back to back Top 10s this season having last done so towards the end of 2017.
And if you’re looking for the same feat regarding a Roush car, that was at Atlanta & Richmond in September 2012.
Interestingly enough, he finished 6th on his first race at Dover on Sunday, September 20, 1998.
20 years later, he closed his NASCAR career in the same position at Homestead-Miami a while ago.
Yes, it does take time and patience to help Roush Fenway get back to its best.
They have done the right thing in calling up Kenseth to figure out why the No.6 Ford isn’t performing as good as the No.17.
Initially, the results come from Top 15-25 mark.
But in the last two races, everyone has seen the best of Kenseth that the organization had hoped for which successfully worked.
That’s why you got to trust the experience and the driver who know the core values & expectations in place.
You think Kenseth will flop on his second stint with Roush Fenway because the equipment is junk or not good enough.
But it’s wrong, this No.6 Ford has come out of age and has matched the results that Ricky Stenhouse Jr. did over the past few years.
People would love Kenseth to stay for another full season since he saved the No.6 Team.
But he has family commitments in which is the No.1 priority.
Although, the No.6 Team will always have an experienced driver on its hands when Ryan Newman steps in after Christmas.
Newman needs a new challenge after spending a few years at Richard Childress Racing.
So to have Newman-Stenhouse pairing up will improve the competition upon each other.
That means the new combination will strengthen Roush’s chances of a regular Top 7-10 runs plus a shot for a race win.
For now, thank you to Matt Kenseth on a beautiful ride and career in NASCAR.
And he’ll always be there for Jack Roush whenever the organization needed him to help out at any time.
